After many months of work led by Community Led Housing specialist and Partner, Emma Ridge alongside Morgan Gibson, Solicitor in our Property Team, we are pleased to report that completion took place on Friday 12th January 2024!
This project including liaison with the mortgage funder and the client to ensure the lease documentation provided suitable security whilst meeting the social aspiration to deliver genuinely affordable homes for local people in housing need.
Leeds Community Homes’ Development Director Jimm Reid explained, “these affordable homes provide amazing accommodation in a modern city centre apartment scheme with very low energy bills and a fabulous community to become a part of, at an affordable cost. We had no hesitation in approaching Wrigleys to act for us in this matter given their long track record and knowledge in the community led housing sector”.

The first eight properties to be taken on by Leeds Community Homes include 1 and 2 bed homes. They are very energy efficient, benefitting from Passivhaus standard insulation and air tightness and harnessing solar energy and heat recovery ventilation.
Leeds Community Homes is a ground-breaking model, not only delivering their own affordable homes with the support of community share issue investment, but also acting as a hub for the region and supporting other community groups to tackle the need for affordable community led projects in their area. We were delighted to be involved and look forward to working on many more projects with LCH and their partners that deliver innovative solutions to the housing crisis.
