Clare is a partner in our charities and social economy team.

Clare has a background in trust law and advises on a wide range of charity law matters, including: the establishment of charities; trustees' duties and governance; serious incidents; charity mergers; trading; fundraising; and cause related marketing. She has particular expertise in establishing and advising corporate foundations and in advising charities on their interactions with the Charity Commission.

Clare is a member of the Charity Law Association and Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is also a Dementia Friend.

Adrian joined Rathbones in 2004 after graduating from the University of Liverpool with an honours degree in Financial Economics.

He specialises in the management of portfolios for charities, as part of Rathbones’ charity team, as well as managing private clients’ assets including ISAs, SIPPs and trusts.

Adrian is a CFA charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst) as well as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI). He is a member of Rathbones group Stock Selection Committee and chairs the Charity Fixed Income and Collectives Committee.

Joanna is an associate in our charities and social economy team.

Formerly a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, Joanna started her career as a fund manager, working for a number of years for fund management firms in London and nationally before re-training as a solicitor.

Joanna advises charities, their trading subsidiaries, and social enterprises on a wide range of charity law and other legal matters, including providing governance support and trustee training, advising on registrations and constitutional amendments, and structural transactions such as incorporations, mergers, and asset transfers. She has a particular interest in the health and social care sector, and specialises in advising almshouse charities and other charitable organisations with permanent endowment and complex or special trusts.

Joanna is a member of the Charity Law Association and is recognised as a Recommended Lawyer by the Legal 500 directory. She is also a trustee of a Leeds based charity which assists young people who are experiencing financial hardship by providing grants to support education and training.

Oliver is an asset allocation strategist at Rathbones. He is responsible for carrying out research on the global economy and financial markets supporting Rathbones’ top-down investment process. He is a voting member of Rathbones’ strategic asset allocation committee and its UK equity sector committee.

Oliver joined Rathbones in January 2022. Prior to joining, he worked for Capital Economics, specialising in global asset allocation. He holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge, and a masters degree in Financial Economics from Birkbeck, University of London.

Chris Hannett is a 13 year veteran of the Cyber Security industry and is currently a director of the 'active cyber risk management' company Cymplify. He works with Business Leaders to help them better understand their Cyber Risk, to actually see where and how they are exposed, and to help them better secure their businesses against the increasing threat of Cyber-attack.
