The firm was founded in 1996 as a niche private client, charity and trust law practice. The founding members previously worked in a large national practice and increasingly found the culture and cost base of larger firms unsuitable for private and charity clients. We therefore took care to design a firm which will serve these clients effectively and with a more personal approach over the long term.

The firm is unique in limiting its work to private client, charities and trusts (with related niche areas including agriculture, pensions, ecclesiastical and education). We strive to maintain an optimal environment for these work types and have chosen to avoid other practice areas which would dilute our focus. The firm therefore does no litigation, family law or main stream commercial work and where asked we will put clients in contact with sensible and cost effective advisers elsewhere.

The firm's approach is successful and we have experienced strong organic growth, largely based on the quality of our work and word of mouth recommendations. Our aim is to consolidate our position as the leading firm in specific niche areas and to encourage staff to innovate within related emerging areas. Above all we aim to have first rate specialists in their chosen fields and to manage the firm carefully to bring out the best in them with corresponding results for clients. People are encouraged to find within the firm's specialisms a work type which really interests and appeals to them, make it their own and run with it, safe in the knowledge the firm will back them all the way.

We have a strong record of differentiating from other firms and have attracted excellent staff who enjoy our non-corporate environment.

We have a friendly and straightforward approach and colleagues work hard – they are encouraged to understand and tune into exactly what is in the client's best interests. We keep administration to a minimum where possible.

Our aim is to nurture and preserve our unique environment which works well for, and benefits, both clients and staff. We operate the firm prudently and encourage a sense of stewardship. Long term client relationships are key to us and, by working at these and at the quality of our service, we aim to attract further work by recommendation.

The service we aim for is well summarised in this client's comments:

"What has always impressed me about Wrigleys is the feeling conveyed by those employed by the firm, that they are genuinely interested in you as a person or family; they want to do their best in acting for you, unlike other firms, with whom I have had dealings in the past, where one had too often the perception of really just being another fee account."
